My name is Stacey Lim, and I am the current president of the Michigan Chapter of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf. Our organization works to advocate, educate, and support the deaf and hard of hearing community, their families and the professionals who work with them. Throughout the year, we have different events for families of children who have hearing loss, adults with hearing loss, and the professionals who serve them. I wanted to let you know about a FREE event that we have coming up on March 2, 2019 at the Michigan State University Student Union.
Working with AG Bell National and its Cradle to Career partners Cochlear and GN ReSound, AG Bell’s Michigan chapter will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about how to support children who are deaf and hard of hearing and to help them achieve their goals.
This educational and family friendly event will include a featured presentation by Sound Support University of Michigan: “From Hear to Hear – Cochlear: Nucleus Technology on the Classroom,” an exhibitor area, hands-on learning opportunities,a children’s program, free lunch for attendees, and networking and professional development opportunities.
This event is open to professionals, students, and to families of children with hearing loss. We would like to invite you to attend, and to share information about this event with anyone you feel would be interested, such as students who are studying audiology, speech-language pathology, education, and special education, clients and families who you may see, or colleagues who are interested in learning more about aural rehabilitation and technology in the classroom.
Registration is open at www.agbell.org/miexpo until March 1, 2019. I have also attached a flyer that you can share or print out, as well as a detailed schedule for the day.
In addition, MIAGBell offers a free friends and family membership (https://www.agbell.org/Membership/Membership-Application) as well as several different tiers of membership for students and professionals. (Anyone can sign up for a friends and family membership). With this membership, you would automatically be a member of the MI AGBELL chapter and will be able to stay up-to-date on our state-specific activities.
If you have any questions about the event or wish to learn more about our chapter, please do not hesitate to contact me.
